Only officials make gollies offensive

ON a recent visit to Johannesburg in South Africa, I visited a large craft market.

It was attended by people of all races, creed and colour, all very amiable and happy. The stall that caught my eye most was a white lady, assisted by a black lady, selling beautifully made gollies.

The people who were buying them most were black families.

No insults for anyone, just black soft toys for children of all races.

These toys only become offensive when officials make them so.

I find offensive people who find something as innocent as a rag toy offensive.
