Festival is colourful occasion
HEAVY showers could not dampen the spirits at this year’s Sidcup Festival.
Festival-goers dodged the showers to enjoy a host of free events organised by the Sidcup Town Partnership and the Sidcup High Street Promotions Group.
One of the highlights of the day was the carnival parade.
Festival queen Elisha McVeigh was joined by a colourful band of performers and the Manor Majorettes, who made their way from Sidcup Hill through the High Street to The Green.
Street entertainers and a steel band from the Bexley Academy of Performing Arts added fun to the street market in the High Street.
And there were high jinks at The Green with a variety of fun acts in the arena, a falconry display and a field gun competition between teams from HMS Collingwood and the Royal Marines.
There was also an area just for children with activities including inflatables and a climbing wall.
