Thousands enjoy fun in the sun
THE sun shone for thousands of spectators enjoying the News Shopper-sponsored Biggin Hill International Air Fair.
Eighty-five thousand people attended the 44th annual event.
Flypasts from a range of aircraft including Focke Wulf FW44, Dragon Rapide, Harrier GR7 and the Chinook helicopter entertained the crowds during a five-and-a-half hour display.
Squadron leader Jock Maitland, chairman of show organiser Air Displays International, said: “Again we have gone better than last year and we look forward to putting on more shows at Biggin Hill.
“We want to thank all the public for coming.”
As well as the aerial activities, there was also a funfair and a display of historic cars.
News Shopper publisher Mark Lewis said: “The News Shopper has been a proud sponsor of Biggin Hill Air Fair since the newspaper stepped in to save the show three years ago.
“By far the biggest and most exciting event in our area, we are delighted to be associated with the air fair and I’m pleased to say this year’s event was, as always, first class and enjoyed by tens of thousands of people.”
The organisers are already planning next year’s show.
