May 2004
MILLWALL'S success in reaching the FA Cup final was honoured with an open top bus parade.
The club was beaten 3-0 by Premiership team Manchester United at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
But thousands of fans showed their loyalty by lining the streets to cheer on their team as it paraded through Lewisham and Southwark.
Outside Lewisham Shopping Centre, Lewisham High Street, fans were able to greet their heroes when the bus made its final stop.
There was also plenty of entertainment, with the Piranha Project playing an eclectic mix of funk, acid-jazz and new soul and Glen Tilbrook, frontman of Squeeze for 25 years, singing old favourites and some new material.
Lewisham Mayor Steve Bullock said: "Millwall did a remarkable job reaching the FA Cup final and gaining a Uefa Cup place next season. This is great news for the club, their supporters and the borough."
