A Gravesend school has celebrated its centenary with a specially-written play about women in the First World War.

Mayfield Grammar School teacher, Anna Quirós, wrote To the Stars to commemorate 100 years since the school was founded.

The play, which was performed last week, highlighted the vital role women carried out in The Great War.

Ms Quirós, who is also subject leader for drama, said: "I used the school and local archive materials as well as being fortunate enough to interview some ex-pupils, including some who remembered the founding Headmistress, Miss Fox.
