A FORMER Mayor of Dartford has died aged 66 following a battle with cancer.
Councillor Sheila East, who was Dartford’s Mayor in 2007, died on June 2.
She has been a member of Stone Parish Council since May 2003, first becoming a councillor in 1987 when she joined Swanscombe and Greenhithe Town Council.
During 2003, she was elected to Dartford Borough Council where she represented Castle Ward.
A Stone Parish Council spokeswoman said: “Sheila was a very active member of the council, supporting council staff in her position as chair of the personnel committee and providing support to plans for construction of Stone Pavilion and the resurrection of Stone Fete.
“The council would like to extend deep sympathies to Sheila's family.”
