Good sports trying activities

ENERGETIC residents turned out to enjoy a free sports day.

On Saturday, Swanley Town Council hosted a day of sport opened by Swanley mayor Councillor Lesley Dyball at St Mary's Recreation Ground, St Mary's Road, Swanley.

The activities included football, athletics and cricket.

There was also a walk from the recreation ground to the White Oak Leisure Centre, Hilda May Avenue, Swanley, where visitors enjoyed diving and water polo demonstrations.

Visitors also took part in fencing, badminton and curling at the White Oak Indoor Bowls Centre.

Sevenoaks District Sports Council chairman Edward Oatley said: "Sport is vital in the development of the young.

"It builds character, true sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership."
