CONSERVATIVE Derek Shelbrooke has been elected councillor for the Meopham South and Vigo ward.
Cllr Shelbrooke was voted in at the by-election on Thursday after the previous councillor, Raymonde Collins, died from cancer in December.
Cllr Shelbrooke won 515 votes, with UKIP candidate Geoffrey Clark in second place with 122 votes.
Labour candidate Douglas Christie and the Liberal Democrat's Ann O’Brien were tied in third place with 114 votes each.
