NORTH KENT: Prince's Trust course to help unemployed find work

A YOUTH charity has teamed up with a construction company to get unemployed people back into work.

The Prince’s Trust’s free two-week course with Carillion gives unemployed 16 to 25-year-olds an introduction to construction trade practices like bricklaying, carpentry, tiling, painting and decorating alongside CV writing and interview techniques.

All participants will get the chance to gain a basic entry certification which will enable them to work on a construction site.

The charity is keen to get people along from Dartford and Gravesham.

Regional director in the south east for the Prince’s Trust, Simon Fulford, said: “This programme offers young people the opportunity to learn vital trade skills whilst improving their confidence and broadening their horizons.”

Participants will be able to continue to claim benefits and will have travel expenses refunded.

The course takes place at the Carillion Training Centre in Sittingbourne from July 27 to August 7.
