NORTH KENT: Search and rescue dog charity needs volunteers

VOLUNTEERS are needed by a charity which provides search and rescue dogs to find missing people.

SARDA (Search and Rescue Dog Association) Meridian began operating since August and has dogs and handlers trained to find missing people on call for police across north Kent and the south-east.

So far the charity has assisted police in more than 15 searches, and as demand for the free service increases, it needs more volunteer dogs and handlers.

SARDA Meridian chairman James Dunn said: “If you are after an activity that will put your dog’s energy to good use and allow you to give something back to the community, we want to hear from you.”

Those with a suitable dog will be trained as dog handlers, and others can be trained to search on foot or on bike.
