AN EVENING of American rock and roll has helped raise more than £200 for a charity.
The High School Hop event was organised by two creative industry students from Greenwich University who set up the night of fun as part of their coursework.
More than 220 people, aged from seven to 50, attended the party at the Mick Jagger Centre, Shepherds Lane, Dartford, to help raise cash for Swanley-based allergy treatment charity Allergy UK.
The evening included a jive dance lesson from former rock and roll dance champion Kav Kavanagh.
There was also live music and an exhibition of 10 1950s American cars.
Student Sarah Mills, 24, of Sheepcoat Lane, Orpington, said: "We were so glad so many people came along. People seemed to really enjoy the dance lesson."
Co-organiser Jane Brown, 32, of Ladds Way, Swanley, said: "We wanted to create the mood of the time and hopefully we did that."
