EUROSTAR has made its first train journey from Brussels to St Pancras station in record time.
The trip on September 20 took one hour 43 minutes and passed through Ebbsfleet's new international station without stopping on the 232-mile trip, beating the previous record of one hour 58 minutes.
Ebbsfleet International Station, just off the M25 near the Dartford crossing, will open on November 19.
Five out of the 10 daily journeys from St Pancras to Brussels will stop there, as will the same number of trains going in the opposite direction.
Seven out of the 17 trips from St Pancras to Paris and the same number going the other way will also stop at the station.
The scheduled non-stop time between St Pancras and Brussels will be one hour and 51 minutes.
This will cut 20 minutes off the current journey time from Brussels to Waterloo.
Eurostar chief executive Richard Brown said: "Eurostar is quite simply the fastest, most convenient way to travel."
