Phone calls to centre now low-rate

A VOLUNTEER centre has been given a £10,000 cash boost.

Volunteer Centre Swanley, London Road, was granted the money as part of Kent County Council's Rural Revival programme.

Rural Revival provides grants to projects which encourage employment and community involvement in the Kent countryside.

The money has enabled the volunteer centre to change its telephone number to a low-rate line.

Centre organiser Pauline Annetts said: "The grant has given us the opportunity to be more accessible in the eight villages we cover."
