Mum says she was racially abused in row

A MUM out walking with her toddler and dog claims she was slapped and spat at and racially abused by another couple in an argument over their dogs.

Jaspreet Hundal was walking in Lesnes Abbey park, near the abbey ruins off Abbey Road, Belvedere, on April 21 when she claims the couple's dog, a brown mongrel, attacked her pet.

Mrs Hundal, who lives in Belvedere, says as she tried to push the other dog away, the man started to call it back but then started shouting at her dog.

The 30-year-old claimed: "The man came up very close to me.

"He was swearing at my dog and then he kicked it."

She added: "He started shouting I should not be allowed in this country then spat in my face, and when I asked him why he slapped my face."

Mrs Hundal says she screamed at the man and told him he was a "racist monster" and the noise attracted a worker from the abbey ruins' information centre.

But she says there were no witnesses to the actual assault.

A skateboarder then arrived on the scene and Mrs Hundal says he was also threatened.

After the police were called, the couple left, walking over the footbridge towards Thamesmead.

The man, aged about 40 and with short brown hair, may be called Steve, while the woman is about 35 and has long brown hair.

Police are now investigating the incident.

Anyone who has information can call investigating officer PC Ben White on 020 8301 1212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
