A WOMAN who was catapulted from her car in a collision on the A2 landed on the opposite side of the carriageway.
The accident happened on the coast bound carriageway of the A2, in the Bexley area, yesterday at 8.30am when a Volvo collided with the near-side crash barrier.
Fire crews from Bexley were the first on the scene and found the injured woman who had been thrown through the windscreen of the car with such force her body was lying in the London bound carriageway of the road, facing oncoming traffic.
The London Air Ambulance landed on the east bound carriageway and paramedics stabilised the woman before she was air-lifted to the Royal London Hospital, where she underwent surgery.
Firefighters spent one hour and fifteen minutes cutting free the driver of the car who was trapped by his injuries.
He was later taken by ambulance to Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup with serious injuries.
Another man who was found in the vicinity of the collision suffering from minor injuries and shock was also taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich.
