A SCHOOLGIRl was sexually assaulted as she walked home.
The 13-year-old was walking over the footbridge between Abbey Road and Maran Way, Thamesmead, when she was grabbed from behind by the attacker.
He is described as black, in his mid-20s, with a moustache and wearing dark clothes and black leather gloves.
Bexley police's Sapphire unit, which deals with sexual assaults, is appealing for information.
They would like to hear from a woman, walking across the bridge in the opposite direction while on a mobile phone, who stopped and asked the girl if she was okay.
They would also like to speak to anyone who saw the man hanging around the area or who heard the girl scream.
Call the Sapphire unit on 020 8284 9261/2 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
