Elstree badminton player Adam Skeggs made a good start to the new season on Sunday, by reaching the final of The Hertfordshire Open.
Adam was partnered with Dave Foster, and the pair fought their way through to the tournament's men's doubles final held at Haberdashers Askes' Boys School's sports centre in Elstree.
In the final, Skeggs and Foster faced Ben Williams and Chris Roe. The final was won by Roe and Williams, who notched up scores of 13-15, 15-11 and 15-5.
Adam's route to the men's doubles final saw him take on former playing partner, Matt Corby, in the second round.
The Hertfordshire Open, which took place over the weekend, is part of the Badminton Association of England's circuit of tournaments. Badminton players from across the UK competed in the event.
Adam's sister, Helen, played alongside her brother to reach the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles. Unfortunately they were defeated by Daniel Corby and Susan Pennington. The mixed doubles were eventually won by Dave Foster and Jo Sullivan.
*This Sunday, Adam and Helen Skeggs will be playing in the Wimbledon Challenger tournament.
