Police believe an arsonist was responsible for a fire at a stable block on a farm near Ridge in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Two fire engines were called to Earls Farm, in Earls Lane, at 1.12am after a lit cylinder of propane gas was left against a wall. The two stables did not contain any animals, although the wall was badly damaged and the blaze took half-an-hour to control.
Station Commander Danny Rickett, of Borehamwood Fire Station, said: "Setting fire to gas cylinders like this is very dangerous because they can explode with great force."
Anyone who can assist police with their enquiries into the incident is asked to call the crimedesk on 020 8905 1212.
