More than 5,000 footballers are expected to flock to Croydon's newPowerleague Soccer Centre each week when it opens in the New Year.

And to kick off the £1 million soccer complex in Hannibal Way, theCroydon Guardian has teamed up with Power-league to sponsor thestate-of-the-art centre's new Guardian Leagues.

With licensed bars, luxury changing rooms, quality social facilities andfully trained officials, Powerleague's soccer- mad staff are hopingtheir dedicated five-a-side complex will be a dream come true forfootballers.

"At Powerleague we are fully committed to the most important game inthe world and that is why we have created a complex which givesfive-a-side football players the style and quality which both they and thebeautiful game deserve," said Philip Sellers, Chairman of PowerleagueSoccer Centres.

"With the ability to accommodate up to 1,000 players and spectatorsa night, we're looking forward to seeing every local five-a-sideplayer in the area competing in our new Guardian leagues soon."

Open to players of all abilities and ages, the new FA affiliated GuardianLeagues will run for 52 weeks a year on the soccer centre's 10all-weather and floodlit pitches. And to be sure of tough competition,Powerleague will be offering teams a range of prizes - includingtickets to top games in both the Football league and Premiership.

Powerleague is bringing its successful formula to the capital afteropening its first complex in Nottingham two years ago and a second complexin west London earlier this year. A third centre offering the kind offacilities usually limited to the Capital's top sports and healthclubs opens at Tottenham in March.

And the action at Power-league won't be limited to the pitch.
