Guider Kate Turner gets her bearings as she prepares to jet off toSri Lanka.
A Guider from Ham is set to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
Kate Turner, of Lake Gardens, will jet off to Sri Lanka on December 30to spend eight months working on a community development project.
The centre was originally financed by the United Nations and the SriLankan Guide Association but is now funded entirely by the Guides.
Kate said: "My main focus will be to help the centre becomeself-financing. The British Guide Association's link with the centreis coming to an end and we wish to leave the project as a completelyself-running, self-financing project."
She must fund the trip herself so is looking for contributions-anyone who can help should contact the Guardian newsdesk on 0181 744 9977and we will put you in touch with Kate.
