Neighbour charged over Tia case
A neighbour of the grandmother of murdered schoolgirl Tia Sharp has been charged with wasting police time.
Paul Meehan, 40, from Croydon, south London, will appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court on February 28 charged with the offence.
He is the neighbour of Tia's grandmother Christine Sharp, whose boyfriend Stuart Hazell is due to stand trial over the 12-year-old's murder later this year.
Tia's body was found in the loft of her grandmother's house in New Addington, south London, in August last year, more than a week after she went missing.
Ms Sharp was arrested on suspicion of murder but in December she was told she would face no further action in relation to the case.
Her boyfriend Hazell, 37, from New Addington, is charged with murdering the schoolgirl between August 2 and 11.
A plea hearing has been listed for March 8 at the Old Bailey, and a trial date has been set for May 7.
