A LORRY driver has been caught on CCTV chucking what looks like his own faeces over the fence of a Winsford business.

The footage shows a man emerge from a lorry with his pants around his ankles on the Winsford Industrial Estate.

He then appears to wipe himself before bagging everything up and throwing it over a nearby fence, into Newbury Data Recording Ltd.

Bags containing excrement were discovered by staff the next day.

Mark Lymer, director Newbury Data Recording Ltd, said: “We see so many bags of excrement and urine on the industrial estate.

“We have raised the issue with the people who manage the estate and the BID. They say they are aware of the problem.

“No-one can do anything about this major health hazard unless we have got someone on camera.”

He added: “This is unacceptable. People have to work around here. Defecating is unacceptable for them.

“The behaviour of drivers, particularly long haul drivers, is unacceptable. Why do they think it is all right to do this?”

The footage, which was captured on August 9, was passed on to Cheshire Police who wrote to the UK office of the Dutch haulage firm Verhoek Europe to make them aware of the incident.

No criminal charges were brought.

Mr Lymer said: “We’ve decided to put this in the public domain out of sheer frustration. No-one is taking it seriously.

“Hopefully it will initiate some sort of culture change.”

Mr Lymer said he was contacted by Verhoek Europe’s head office this week after releasing the video to the Guardian.

He says they are ‘mortified’ and claims they were never made aware of the incident.

Verhoek Europe said it will now be reviewed internally and ‘measurements will be taken accordingly’.

The driver in question is still with the company, and is due to meet with bosses at the headquarters in the Netherlands on Friday.

Verhoek Europe spokesman, Harry de Graaf, said: “We deeply regret what happened, needless to say we do not approve any type of this behaviour.

“Furthermore we regret that we’ve failed to contact the company earlier to offer our apologies and send a cleaning crew, which was the least we could have done.

“It was only after receiving the e-mail from the newspaper on Monday that our head office in The Netherlands was informed of this incident.

“We’ve contacted the company, offered our apologies and this morning one of our employees brought flowers to the company and our sincere apologies.”
