Councillors walk out over Johnson support
Boris Johnson
Boris Johnson

BROMLEY councillors staged a walkout from a meeting in protest at a motion put before the council.

Conservative councillors had put forward a motion before the full council proposing that Bromley Council backs Boris Johnson's bid to become London mayor.

The council's seven Liberal Democrat councillors and one of the four Labour councillors walked out of the meeting in protest.

Councillor David McBride, leader of the Liberal Democrats in the council, said: "I asked the mayor to rule it out of order. It is electioneering at the ratepayer's expense."

Conservative councillor Nicholas Bennett said: "With the elections coming up we wanted to express the view that we feel for the interests of the Bromley residents we need a change of mayor."

He added: "I used to be a councillor in Lewisham, and we would debate with the Labour party and lose, but we fought our corner."

The councillors did not return to discuss a confidential item for debate at the end of the meeting.

Vote Boris for a less tolerant, more congested, more privatised, mismanaged London.

Suddenly, with the potential for having billions of pounds of our money at his fingertips, the blond bungler doesn't look so cute and funny.

Tolerant? Like the Lib Dems and Labour councillors who threw their dummies out of their prams and walked out of a meeting? Very tolerant and grown up.

VOTE BORIS!!!!

Boris is a mentally-ill gimp. When he loses the election, he'll bumble off back into oblivion - hopefully taking that waste of space Councillor 'Keep your shirts on lads' Bennett with him. Taxi for both of them, please!

Nope, not like these councillors. Tolerant like our current Mayor who recgonises London is mature and strong enough to be home to all citizens irrespective of heritage, culture or sexuality.

Err, possibly because there is no "corrupt behaviour"? Just a thought.

BORIS FOR MAYOR!!!!
Posted by: Happy Person, Bromley on 10:06pm Fri 25 Apr 08
I am sure that Boris is a good bloke to have a drink with. I am also sure that Ken and Brian could hold their own after a few pints on a Friday evening.

That having been said, the crime figures are now available for last year.

Virtually every crime type in Bromley has reduced. This is due, in no small part, to the funding provided by the Mayor, Ken Livingstone, for our magnificant Safer Neighbourhood Teams. These teams have made Bromley a truly safe place to live and work.

This was championed by Ken from day 1.

Let's hear it for Ken! Good luck to Ken for a third term!

Personally I think that Brian Paddick has as much chance of winning the Mayoral election as My excrement being discovered as a drug for curing leprosey.

Also Isnt Paddick a Crafty Butcher ?

Crime figures are down are they ?

Nice one - it rates alongside :

The moon is made of cheese.

The tooth fairy is real.

&

Gordon Brown's a competent prime minister.

Honestly, laughed out loud.

Labour councillors did NOT walk out of the debate. The debate was a waste of time but we used it to put forward strong arguments why Johnson would be a disaster for London. Ken Livingston has improved London immensely and Londoners need him to continuie as Mayor.

If Boris does have a fetish for dwarf mud wrestling I am not sure if he would be taken seriously.

Boris Would make London the joke capital of the world and re-inforce the Yanks view that we are a nation of twee bowler hat wearing buffoons.

He is only enjoying some attention because he has a "lovable" image amongst Ladies and Gays.

If the bloke likes mud wrestling with dwarfs this only reinforces the odd side to him.

You are joking??? Ken Livingstone is a mockery. He hasn’t done anything to improve our Country. Has he noticed how much crime is happening on the streets, has he been reading the news of the street gangs, children killing each other etc. the list is endless. DO NOT VOTE KEN, not unless you want to see the continuous destruction of London and it can’t get much worse than it is. But it will be if he remains Mayor.

By the way continue is the correct spelling not continuie

P.s. So you can admit wasting tax payers money for a debate which turns out to be a waste of time. Bit like our Government. Your all a joke and should be fired.

"Ken Livingston has improved London immensely"

WHAT??

Improved my foot! We live here mate? We're not thick. We don't all have agrophobia, nor do we live on the moon. We're HERE and we know what a dump London has become under that man - First Hand!

Typical Labour councillor thinking he can pull the wool over everyones eyes.

Roll on Thursday - the start of labours downfall.

Labour supporters just hate the thought that their recent all-but-monopoly on power might finally be challenged. After years of manipulating local and national government for their own political ends, often while following a policy of "deny everything" it is past time for a change. Let's start by giving Ken the boot on May 1 - followed as soon as possible by kicking out Brown and his cabal as soon as possible!

This Government infuriates me. When are they going to open up their eyes and WAKE UP? 1 million people are leaving this country every year and it certainly is not the ones living in council houses (no disrespect to those who do) but the relatively half decent person is diminishing fast and what are we left with?? Take a look at the regular news/people in the Newsshopper and you will find your answer. The Government does not live in the real world, not until one of their children are murdered, raped or stabbed are they going to wake up. Tony Blair’s son should have gone to war like all the other families children who did, but not good old Tony, oh no, my little boy is wrapped in cotton wool where I know he will be safe. This Government has got its priorities wrong and seriously needs to stop looking through stained coloured glasses and see what is really going on – even though it doesn’t effect their lives!
