DANCERS at a charity for people with learning disabilities have been boosted by the news they can practice for free.

The Pavilion Leisure Centre in Bromley has agreed to let dancers from Magpie Dance use its facilities in return for sponsorship.

Magpie’s artistic director Avril Hitman said: “As Magpie does not receive any regular funding it is especially hard to sustain our work, so by giving us this space for free it will make a substantial difference to the money we need to raise for this particular class each year.

"A huge thanks to the leisure centre for their generosity. "Let’s hope that other venues may follow their lead."

Magpie Dance holds its community classes at the leisure centre in Kentish Way.

The charity has also received a donation of £229 from Waitrose in Bromley town centre after it was selected as the supermarket’s charity of the month earlier this year.

General manager at Magpie Dance Laura Riches said: "We’d like to thank Waitrose and everybody that shops there for nominating us.

"Gill Tarling from Waitrose presented the cheque at one of our adult classes and the dancers enjoyed meeting her."
