Festival fun enjoyed by large crowd

4:39pm Friday 18th July 2008

AROUND 15,000 people flocked to an annual community festival.

The Trust Thamesmead festival offered a lineup of national and local talent with acts appearing on the main stage until 8pm.

Performing in Birchmere Park were Michelle Gayle, Hot Chocolate, Blues Brothers Uncut, and headline act Moni Tivony, who performed as Lionel Richie as he did in BBC1 talent show The One and Only.

They were joined by seven acts from Trust Thamesmead talent contest T-Factor - including this year's winners, dance group Myztikal.

There was also a Hawaiian beach, salsa dancing and massages in the health zone and a beat the goalie competition with Charlton Athletic and Thamesmead Town football clubs.

Community groups also did a roaring trade on their stalls.

The 5th Abbey Wood Brownies had people queuing round the block to have their faces painted.
