Club needs cash to improve pitch

A FOOTBALL club has launched a campaign to raise money to improve the pitch it uses.

Long Lane Junior FC wants to improve the pitch at the Kidbrooke playing fields in Dursley Road, Blackheath.

Greenwich Council leases the pitch to the club, which is aiming to raise £60,000 towards the £600,000 cost.

The club plans to apply to the FA for a grant to fund the rest of the project.

They will hold events to raise the money, as well as selling wristbands, T-shirts and car stickers.

The club's chief executive Mick Northwood said: "We already have a great clubhouse and fantastic training and changing facilities.

"But the last part of the puzzle is improving our pitches and installing adequate drainage, which is a huge project."
