Couple jailed for running brothels

A COUPLE who ran brothels raking in tens of thousands of pounds a week have been jailed for 12 months each.
Andrius Zubinas, 34, and girlfriend Edita Zubkova, 40, ran two brothels in west London.
Zubkova, the brothel secretary, handled the cash while Zubinas kept an eye on the prostitutes.
Southwark Crown Court heard the couple's prostitutes were paid a pittance but each woman earned the pair up to £2,000 a week.
The couple were arrested last December after a 23-year-old woman claimed they had smuggled her into the UK from Lithuania and forced her into a life of "virtual slavery" at the brothels.
The pair, of Watermead Way, Thamesmead, were cleared of conspiracy to falsely imprison and conspiracy to traffic a person for the purposes of sexual exploitation between December 1, 2006, and June 1 last year. They had denied the charges.
But they both pleaded guilty to controlling prostitution for gain.
Judge Michael Gledhill yesterday sentenced both defendants to one year in prison.

Glad you two clowns above think that it is funny to exploit and use women. By the sounds of it the women involved with this were that desperate that they put up with their lot in life. Do you really think that they did this through choice, would you allow yourself to be degraded for a pittance and a pair of lowlifes' gain?

i hope the law ensures the assests they made from this sickening abuse is totally taken away otherwise 12 months will be no more than a rest for these vial people. they will stop at nothing to make money, and even our children will not be safe with parasites like these in society. but the law is weak and probably won't get hold of their money which should be given to women refuges.

Will they be sent back to their country of origin after their prison stay? Lets hope so, anyone who breaks the laws of this country and does not hold a British Passport needs to be sent back to the passport issuing country and not allowed back here. Lets start getting tough on Law and Order,put the other law breakers into the army or made to clean our hospitals and streets.

Come now, "No doubt", let's not be so harsh. For some gentlemen being continually raped by sweaty, overweight men may not seem so bad ... although a spell in Wormwood Scrubs might cure that.
