ANTI-ID card protesters have revealed election candidates' views on the controversial Government proposal.
The Lewisham NO2ID pressure group wrote to all prospective councillors in Lewisham, asking them if they support the introduction of compulsory ID cards.
It has published the results in a heroes and villains list on its website, labelling opponents heroes and calling the ID-card backers villains.
Current Lewisham Mayor Steve Bullock supports ID cards, in contrast to his mayoral election rivals, Tory James Cleverly and Lib Dem Chris Maines, who both oppose the proposal.
Lewisham NO2ID co-ordinator Richard Grainger said: "Lewisham residents should show their displeasure at the Government's intention to nationalise their identities.
"They can do this by voting for the heroic candidates who oppose the scheme, whatever their political party."
