SUPERSIZE ambulances travel the streets of south-east London for supersize emergencies.

London Ambulance Service owns a fleet of ambulances specifically designed to carry obese patients.

It would appear London Fire Brigade is equally well-equipped to deal with London’s larger population.

News Shopper reported back in 2010 how firefighters needed to use a hydraulic lifting platform to lift a 30 stone woman from her bedroom window in Abbey Wood.

After completely ripping out her window they lifted her to the ground on the platform, which resembles a crane.

A more recent incident saw firefighters and paramedics working together to remove two doors in the house of a disabled 40 stone man in New Eltham, in order to free him.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service say they do not have dedicated resources to deal with huge emergencies.

Instead, they say they would send an officer to the scene of the incident who will assess the best way to deal with the situation.
