TWENTY firefighters were called to tackle a fire at a tower block in Deptford this morning (April 12).
The crews from nearby fire stations were sent to the scene at Bembridge House, Bowditch, at around 2.30am, to deal with the incident on the sixth floor.
But three of the four crews were turned back after it emerged it was just rubbish and old clothes which were alight on a balcony.
It took the remaining firefighters around five minutes to put out the flames.
