A BUS driver was sprayed in the face with a "noxious substance" in Catford yesterday, police say.
Officers were called out to Catford Road junction with Doggett Road at 3.07pm.
Lewisham Safer Transport Team officers arrived on the scene and the bus was cleared, while paramedics treated the driver at the scene.
Four officers were also treated by paramedics having suffered minor injuries from the effects of the substance - which police say was non-toxic.
It is believed two people boarded the 185 bus in Catford Road, assaulting the driver and then got out afterwards, jumping on a route 171 bus towards New Cross.
No one required hospital treatment and there have been no arrests so far.
If you can help, call police on 101.
