DETECTIVES have released new CCTV images in an appeal for witnesses one year after the murder of student Samuel Guidera.

The 24-year-old, who lived in Avenue Road, Penge, died after being stabbed in the heart at a bus stop in Sydenham on February 12 last year.

University of Greenwich student Mr Guidera was found collapsed at 9.55pm in Newlands Park, opposite the junction with Bailey Place - around 200m from Penge East station.

He had been stabbed in what police believe was a street robbery gone wrong as his wallet was taken in the attack.

Fresh appeal to find killers of murdered student Samuel Guidera

Mr Guidera, who was carrying a distinctive pink T-mobile carrier bag, travelled on the 9.17pm train from Bickley to Penge East, arriving just before 9.30pm.

He crossed the footbridge over the railway to the Newlands Park exit to go to a convenience store before heading towards the bus stop where he was attacked.

Police are appealing to passengers who were on the Victoria to Orpington train alighting at Penge East at 9.41pm, who may have seen Mr Guidera or someone acting suspiciously.

Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith, from the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "We would urgently like to speak to those people in the new CCTV images in the shop and in the street outside, they may have information that would assist the investigation and it is really important that they come forward and speak to us.

"We have previously released CCTV images and a video on YouTube to encourage people to come forward. Even if these people think they have no useful information for us, we want to speak to them. They may hold information that helps us piece together the events leading up to Sam's death.

"If you think you recognise any of these people, you can help us trace them. I urge you to call us and help find some justice for Samuel and his family."

Anyone with any information should call 020 8345 3734 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
