Poundworld is recalling children's fancy dress items due to a ‘potential safety issue’.
The Halloween fancy dress items are fake hairy hands and monkey masks.
The company is requesting the items are returned immediately, and is offering a full refund, although it has refused to say what the specific safety issue is.
A Poundworld spokesperson, said: “Product quality and customer safety is of paramount importance to us. As soon as we learnt about the potential issue, we took immediate action to withdraw them from sale."
"We’ve since carried out our own independent testing, which has highlighted that the products don’t fully meet the EN71 Toy Safety Standards. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are currently investigating the issue with our supplier.”
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) states that the specific products being recalled are: Children’s Hair Raising Mask and Children’s Hair Raising Hands.
In a statement it said: “Poundworld has identified a potential safety issue with the above products. Customer safety and satisfaction are of paramount importance to us therefore we have issued this product recall.”
The CTSI said that anyone who has purchased these items should stop using them immediately and return them to get a refund.
