More than 20 firefighters were needed as a flat burst into flames in Brockley yesterday afternoon (October 15).

London Fire Brigade were called to the blaze shortly before 4pm as the fire started at the block of flats in Pincott Place.

Two people had evacuated the building before the brigade arrived as the four-roomed ground-floor flat was damaged.

Four other people from neighbouring properties had to be evacuated and assessed by London Ambulance Service.

Fire crews from New Cross, Peckham, Lewisham and Deptford fire stations were at the scene.

The fire was fully put out by 5.45pm and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
