A drug dealer has been jailed after his apartment in a New Cross tower block was raided.

Police raided the home of Kenneth Eyre after neighbours started to raise concerns about what was happening at an apartment in Lapwing Tower.

When police executed the drugs warrant on January 13, they found a substantial amount of heroin, cocaine and ecstasy stashed around the property.

Officers also uncovered a significant amount of cash and a stash of counterfeit €50 notes.

Two men were arrested and later charged with 12 offences of drug dealing and possession of counterfeit currency.

Eyre, 33, of New Cross, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply drugs, possession of criminal proceeds and possession of counterfeit currency.

He was jailed at Woolwich Crown Court on September 29 to 30 months behind bars.

A second man arrested has absconded and not yet been traced. Lewisham Police said enquiries are in hand to apprehend the outstanding suspect for them to be charged.

Sergeant Gavin Durnell from New Cross and Evelyn Police Team said: “This was a long and protracted investigation conducted by my teams which gathered overwhelming evidence to support a custodial sentence being placed on Mr Eyre.

“I hope that this sends a message to the community that your local policing team will listen to and deal with your concerns.

“Furthermore I hope that those who partake in drug dealing on my wards understand the consequences that we will find you and bring you to justice.”
