A 17-month-old girl from Lewisham walked 3.5km to raise funds for her great grandad.

Paige Hagan was not even one and a half when she signed up for the London Memory Walk in aid of dementia.

She wanted to take part for her great grandad Derek, who suffers from dementia.

With a little help from her mum Siobhan, Paige walked the 3.5km and raised £605 in the process, getting over their £450 target.

Siobhan said: “It's been incredibly hard for the family watching this awful condition take hold but to see the joy in his eyes when he spends time with his great grandchildren is wonderful.

“I know he would be so proud of Paige’s achievements at such a young age.

“She walked 3.5km with a little help from mummy and daddy. We would like to say a huge thank you to our friends and family who have supported us.”

More than 2,600 took part in the walk, which started on the lawns of the HAC Grounds in London and to landmarks including St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London and the Globe Theatre.

A second London night walk taking place on October 14 at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.
