A new documentary about a Deptford polling station on election day 2017 has been released.

Award-winning film-maker Tom Greenidge, who lives in Deptford, made Outside the Polling Station to document 'real people, real views' and 'real lives' from the community.

Mr Greenidge spent the whole of election day outside the polling station interviewing voters to get an insight into their lives.

In 2015, Mr Greenidge made a similar documentary where he interviewed voters outside of a polling station in Devizes, Wiltshire. The film was recognised by the House of Commons.

Mr Greenidge said: "When I started filming no-one would speak to me, it looked doomed. But having had the experience of the 2015 documentary I knew I just had to keep going and be patient.

"It was a pleasure to eventually speak to so many people from different walks of life and I appreciate that they felt comfortable opening up to me about issues and their personal lives.

"I actually had the police called on me several times during the day as I must have looked suspicious hanging outside the polling station.

"Of course, I wasn't doing anything wrong and the officers were lovely. They were really interested in the project."

Mr Greenidge has started a new film project called 'My Mate' that follows the stories of friends who have very different backgrounds.
