Transport for London will stop using the phrase 'ladies and gentlemen' in a bid to become more gender neutral.
Staff have been instructed to use terms such as 'good morning everyone' instead and revised phrasing will be applied to new recorded announcements.
Mark Evers, director of customer strategy at Transport for London (TfL), said: “We want everyone to feel welcome on our transport network.
"We have reviewed the language that we use in announcements and elsewhere and will make sure that it is fully inclusive, reflecting the great diversity of London.”
A statement from TfL said they will review and update written guidance as quickly as possible.
