CCTV footage appearing to show the moment a £30,000 Harley Davidson was taken from a car park has been released by Lewisham police.

The video shows a moped rider and passenger drive into a private car park at Pell Street, Surrey Quays, at 1.15am on February 14.

The passenger jumps off the moped and appears to use a portable cutter to cut three chains securing the bike, sending sparks across the car park.

The passenger then pushes the Harley Davidson away to meet with two more suspects on a second moped at the car park entrance.

Keeping the car park doors open by positioning their moped in the entrance, the suspects pushed the motorbike away in the direction of Lower Road and Evelyn Street.

The suspect who pushed the motorbike is described as wearing a black helmet, dark jacket with a white triangle on the back, black trousers and black shoes.

The other suspect who rode the moped into the car park is described as wearing a black helmet, dark jacket with a white triangle on the back, black trousers and black shoes. He was seen wearing a green rucksack.

There are no descriptions of the two suspects on the second moped who kept the gates open. No arrests have been made.

PC Mike White, from Lewisham CID, said: “The owner is obviously very upset to have his motorbike stolen.

“We are keen to identify the males in the CCTV footage so we can speak to them about the incident.

“This is a very distinctive motorbike and I would ask anyone who has been offered such a bike to buy or who has seen one for sale to contact police.

“We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”
