A Lewisham daredevil teen took it upon himself to scale Tower Bridge in front of hundreds of onlookers.

The 18-year-old student, who goes by Cass, brought traffic to a standstill on January 21 as he climbed one of the supports with a GoPro camera strapped to his head.

The stunt was for his Youtube channel, where the video now has over 100,000 views.

Speaking to News Shopper, he said he had always done stunts like this but filming them was newer.

He said he was inspired by other Youtube channels of ‘urban explorers’ such as On The Roofs, or the infamous skyscraper-scaler ‘French Spiderman’ Alain Robert.

He said: “I saw a documentary of Alain Robert. Seeing him doing it he inspired me to train harder so if I do slip I can hold on with one finger.

“I’m definitely afraid that I will fall but I am training all the time. I have been doing gymnastics for a good six to seven years.”

The police weren’t pleased with his actions and later put out a statement asking people not to perform similar stunts.

Cass said: “I did quite a bit of research before I climbed it and I found out it wasn’t publicly owned.

“I figured they wouldn’t pursue any charges because it would be long and tedious for them.

“The police told me off a bit but I hadn’t done anything wrong so they put me in the police car and brought me home.”

The video posted on Youtube has some comments calling him a “moron” and an “idiot”.

One comment said: “You're a moron. Your childish antics held up traffic and put lives at risk. I truly hope you fall and brake your spine next time, you're an attention seeking prick.”

Another person wrote: “They should ban you from youtube you idiot, what’s wrong with you? Do you know how many people you can endanger with those stupid actions, have you ever thought about that or are you to busy trying to get attention?”

However Cass said he accepts and welcomes the criticism of his actions.

He said: “I allow the comments on there. I encourage disagreement. If people think I am crazy then that’s fine.”
