The railway line in Lewisham that was closed for almost a week following a freight train derailment has been reopened.
The derailment resulted in mass cancellations and delays for anyone travelling on the Southeastern line.
The line had been shut since 5.30am on January 24 when the rear two wagons of a 1km long freight train derailed.
More than 50 metres of railway line had been completely destroyed and 30 tonnes of sand had to be removed by hand.
There were no people on board apart from the driver and nobody was injured in the incident.
It is not yet known why the incident occurred and the case has been referred to the Rail Accidents Investigations Branch.
More to follow.
