Newly renovated and ready for some fresh faces, the historical arches next to Deptford station are set to welcome a whole host of independent traders.

For many of the business start-ups and independent traders, Deptford Market Yard will be their first permanent space after starting out in food trucks, pop up shops and market stalls.

From street food to hand-printed clothing, the line-up of tenants has been announced as traders begin to open for business.

Foodies can look forward to the latest take on Indian inspired fast food in the shape of Frankie Goes to Bollywood, as well as The Cheese Truck, Jamaican specialists Mama’s Jerk and supper club eatery Dirty Apron.

Art fans can explore Jessica Childs’ first permanent shop Childs Draw, whose illustrations are inspired by the local area.

She said: "It’s great to be part of the New Deptford Market Yard alongside other independent businesses.

“As a local person I’m psyched to see a fresh new space for Deptford residents and visitors.”

News Shopper:

Guillaume Ossan will bring hairdressing business The Box to Deptford.

She’ll be joined by textile artist Naomi Ryder, who runs industrial homeware store Depot, as well as lifestyle boutique Win & Ruby and florist-come-interiors store The Room.

Other stallholders include hand-printed clothing from Plain Bear, haircuts from The Box and Lomond Coffee for a cup of Joe.

There’s even something for fitness fanatics, as Circus Fit is set to take up a space for their aerial skills courses.

As well as the 14 arches, Deptford Market Yard will be home to a regular weekend market and further retail spaces all to be announced at a later date.

Stores and restaurants are expected to be fully opened by early October.
