A couple from Blackheath have created a space-themed adventure game to keep kids active and learning this summer.

I’m A Kid Get Me Out Of Here is an immersive theatre experience where every child can play a role in saving the universe – racing around 120sq metres on four domed tents and their interconnecting tunnels completing challenges to recover six crystals that enable time travel.

Husband and wife Mark Kemp and April Pollard were inspired by the boom in interactive clue quest-type games and spotted a gap in the market for children aged seven to 14, who also lack the spark they got as young people watching shows like The Crystal Maze.

April, a mum and aunty herself, said: “Kids love to be amazed and inspired and me and my partner have spent two years making sure that they will by, by science and the wonders of nature. Even maths and physics can be exciting. Who knows we might just discover the next mini-Einstein!”

The eco-friendly, educational game is solar powered and uses props made from ‘found’ and recycled materials.

During the summer holidays, Mark and April are hosting I’m A Kid Get Me Out Of Here in their back garden – with their three cats all playing a role in the game – but the set-up is fully mobile and they hope to take it around schools and other venues after the six-week school break.

April said: “If we inspire just one child to pursue science, maths or physics, or become more aware of the environment and nature, we've done our job.”

The 90-minute I’m A Kid Get Me Out Of Here experience costs £12.50, with group discounts available. Go to imakidgetmeoutofhere.co.uk
