An Anerley woman has given birth to the biggest baby born at the PRUH’s Oasis Birth Centre, weighing an impressive 12lb and 8oz.

Baby Noah was welcomed into the world on May 9 after 19 minutes of pushing.

Mum-of-two Lyndsey Havell, 32, gave birth to her second son with just gas and air at the Princess Royal University Hospital’s Oasis Birth Centre in Farnborough.

Noah trumped his big brother Caden who was also born naturally nine years ago weighing 10lb.

The Forest Hill café manager said she had wanted a home birth, but midwives advised her to visit the Oasis Centre because of the likelihood of her having another big baby.

She told News Shopper: “We were thinking he was going to be big anyway, but we didn’t realise how big.

“We thought nine or ten pounds, we didn’t think 12 and a half.”

Noah is just ten days old.

At ten days old Noah is a happy and healthy new born, who is just about fitting into his 2-3month old baby grows.

The youngster weighs 5lb more than the average boy birthed in the UK, but less than Britain’s heaviest baby born last year who tipped the scales at a whopping 15lb and 10oz.

Ms Havell said he was a popular attraction on the ward, with medics and patients popping in to meet him, including a fellow new mother whose new born weighed half the size of Noah.

“Everyone was coming in to see him and have their picture taken with him because he was really big,” said Ms Havell.

She has been told that Noah is the size midwives would expect from a mother who has diabetes or is overweight – neither of which apply to Ms Havell.

Now measuring just over 5ft10 tall, Ms Havell was also born a bigger than average baby at 10 1/2lb.

She believes her height could be the reason behind her big babies.

“I was a big baby as well, I think it just runs in the family,” she added.

“He’s definitely the biggest one in the family.”

The proud mum said she is delighted with Noah, adding “everybody loves him, he’s really impressive”.

She is currently on maternity leave from Phoenix Café in Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, where she works as a café manager and cake supplier.
