Expect heavy rain today (January 26) and tomorrow, as Storm Jonas, which blanketed much of the east coast of America in deep snow, heads for the UK.

This morning should remain dry in south east London and Kent, but it's expected to be a miserable afternoon, with rain and wind.

Remnants of storm Jonas have already begun to sweep in from the Atlantic, prompting widespread weather and flood alerts.

Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss has called an emergency meeting in preparation for the expected rainfall, which could be as much as 100mm (3.9ins) in hilly areas.

TODAY'S TOP STORIES:

However those hoping to see a flurry of snow will almost certainly be disappointed, as temperatures in the south east are expected to remain mild - with highs of 12C today.
