A Brockley woman wants to track down the mystery good Samaritan who returned her missing wallet containing £300 in cash.

Mandu Reid dropped her wallet when she was walking along Lee High Road on her way to the hairdressers on Thursday afternoon (September 24) between 2pm and 2.30pm.

Once the 34-year-old realised the wallet was missing, she believed it was gone for good but it was anonymously posted through her letterbox in Revelon Road later that evening.

The wallet contained the £300 cash, her driving licence, debit and credit cards and an Oyster card loaded with £50.

Ms Reid, a civil servant at City Hall, told News Shopper: “Contrary to all my expectations, by the evening someone had anonymously returned the wallet fully intact to my home address.

“I really want to thank the hero in person.

“£300 is a lot of money to me. I never go around with that much cash – I was taking it to the bank. I couldn’t believe someone had dropped it off.”

Ms Reid contacted News Shopper to ask for help to trace the person who returned the wallet.

She added: “I felt a little bit bad that I felt so pessimistic – I thought once the wallet was gone, it was gone.

“It made me feel so much more positive about the community and the neighbourhood.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have received such kindness from a complete stranger.

"They deserve to be honoured for their good deed.”
