This week the London Fire Brigade are promoting electrical safety with an interactive calculator.
Some fires can be caused by overloaded plug sockets, so the LFB have launched the electric socket calculator.
People can check their appliances by testing which ones can be safely plugged in together.
MORE TOP STORIES The overload calculator states: “Are you overloading your electrical sockets?
”Some appliances, such as lamps, televisions, computers, fridges and freezers generally require a 3 amp fuse.
“However washing machines, dishwashers, microwaves, kettles, toasters and irons usually require 13 amp fuses.
“Plug in some appliances below and find out if you are overloading your sockets at home and putting yourself at risk of causing a fire.”
People can select which appliances they plug in to a single socket to see if they're at risk of overloading it and causing a fire.
