Forest Hill’s Timothy Spall is set to lead an all-star cast in a must-watch four part drama this Christmas.

Spall will star alongside Victoria Wood, Keeley Hawes and Marc Warren in Fungus the Bogeyman on Sky1.

Inspired by Raymond Briggs’ classic family story and written by Tom McRae, it will also star Andy Serkis as the narrator, The Thick of It’s Joanna Scanlan as Fungus’ Bogeywife Mildrew and Game of Thrones’ Paul Kaye as the bogeyhunter.

MORE FILM AND TV:

Production starts this week and is produced by motion capture specialists Imaginarium Studios (currently also working on Jungle Book: Origins) and DNegTV.

It will include live action and animated elements.

Timothy Spall said: “Fungus has brought joy to generations of children and I am so thrilled to be playing such a beloved character.

“It’s great to be working with Sky again and the skilled folk at Imaginarium to bring Fungus the Bogeyman out of the pages of Raymond Brigg’s book and on to the small screen this Christmas.”
