An elderly Lewisham man was burgled on his birthday.
The 73 year-old victim left his home on the Bellingham Green Estate at 8am returned home at 1:20pm to find to find a brick in his hallway.
He later discovered that a window in his kitchen had been smashed.
Whitefoot safer neighbourhoods team Sergeant John Berry, said: "This heartless crime took place that morning when the victim's rear kitchen window was smashed with a brick, and the suspect entered his house."
After dealing with the offence on March 23, Whitefoot officers decided that further action was required.
Sergeant Berry added: "They returned the following day to provide additional victim care, and also present the victim with a card and birthday cake with best wishes from the Whitefoot team."
