A rapist who held a teenage girl captive in New Cross and forced her to perform sex acts on him has been jailed for 12 years.

Derek Onodjamue, 27, locked his 17-year-old victim inside a room in the flat after she arranged to meet him because she owed him money, on September 5 last year.

The attacker, known to the victim only as ‘Dan’, forced her hand into a boiling kettle, whipped her with an electrical cord and forced her to perform oral sex on him.

Onadjamue, of Elephant and Castle, was found guilty of rape, false imprisonment and ABH and sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court.

He threatened her with further violence throughout the horrifying ordeal, the court heard.

After several hours, the victim was allowed to leave and she reported the terrifying ordeal to police, who launched an investigation.

Detectives quickly identified 'Dan' as Derek Onodjamue and he was circulated as wanted.

Onodjamue was arrested after attending Lewisham Police Station on September 22, last year. He was charged the following day.

Detective Constable Samantha Searle, of the Met's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command (SOECA), said: "I would like to commend the victim for having the courage to report this horrifying ordeal to police and help up pursue her attacker through the courts.

"Onodjamue manipulated his victim, forcing her into a situation where she could not escape and subjecting her to hours of torture and humiliation.

"I hope this sentence can afford the victim and her family some degree of closure."

Police are appealing for any other victims to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Dolores Connolly, also of SOECA, added: "Given the facts of this case, I cannot rule out the possibility that Onodjamue has taken advantage of other victims.”

“I would urge anyone who has been attacked by him to contact police - specially trained officers working alongside other trained professionals will support you throughout the process."

Anyone who believes they have been sexually assaulted by Derek Onodjamue is asked to call SOECA officers on 020 8721 4653
